Our Curriculum Framework

At Hijrah Academy, we believe Islamic education should do more than help children memorise information. Our goal is to help pupils develop a deep understanding of their faith, strong Islamic character and the confidence to apply Islamic principles in everyday life.

To achieve this, we have developed a unique 5-Stage Progression Model that guides children through a carefully structured learning journey from ages 5–12.

Stage 1: Recognise & Say (Ages 5–6)

Children begin by building strong foundations. They learn key Islamic vocabulary, stories, routines, Duas and essential knowledge through engaging and age-appropriate activities.
Pupil Voice: "I can say it."

Stage 2: Explain & Connect (Ages 7–8)

As understanding develops, pupils begin to explain Islamic concepts in their own words and make simple connections between what they learn and their daily lives.

Pupil Voice: "I can explain it."

Stage 3: Apply & Justify (Ages 9–10)

Students are encouraged to think more deeply, apply Islamic teachings to real-life situations and explain the reasons behind their choices.

Pupil Voice: "I can use it."

Stage 4: Analyse & Evidence (Ages 10–11)

Pupils learn to evaluate ideas, compare viewpoints and support their understanding using evidence from authentic Islamic sources.
Pupil Voice: "I can support it."

Stage 5: Internalise & Articulate with Maturity (Ages 11–12)

At the highest stage, students demonstrate confidence, maturity and leadership. They are able to express their beliefs clearly, think critically and apply Islamic guidance independently.

Pupil Voice: "I can live it and explain it maturely."
